Location: Morris Plains, NJ
Fondest memory: Times with my Grandmother, especially watching her cook on Christmas Eve
Wildest dream: To open a senior cat sanctuary for cats 15 years and older
Proudest moment: Anytime I have gotten back up after being knocked down
Biggest Challenge: Going to work each day while I’d rather be snuggling with my senior cats
Why Looking Glass Animal Rescue: I found Looking Glass Animal Rescue (LGAR) accidentally after losing an almost 22 year old cat that I had adopted when she was 18 years old. With a shattered heart, I saw a Facebook post about a handsome cat on “the list” and LGAR was looking for a foster so that they could pull him to safety. I took a significant leap of faith late that night and completed the paperwork to be a foster for him. The volunteers at LGAR contacted me immediately the next morning and Memo was saved in the nick of time. He was a mess and not in good health, but LGAR supported me and Memo through every step and within a couple of months I fessed up that he would never leave my home because I needed to adopt him. The compassion and friendship I was shown by the folks at LGAR was what I had always felt was missing from my life – like minded animal lovers who will stop at nothing to save and protect the most vulnerable…the most neglected…knowing their true worth despite the horrific physical state they may be in at first sight. Knowing that love and proper care can transform the physical and emotional state of an animal is the true passion of Looking Glass Animal Rescue, and I am honored to now be a part of their team and helping others to find an animal that will complete (and dare I say “transform”) their life, just as Memo completed and transformed mine.
