Looking Glass Animal Rescue is award-winning 501(c)(3) volunteer based nonprofit animal welfare organization headquartered in Ridgefield, CT. We are a virtual rescue and do not have a physical shelter facility. Our rescue animals are provided with the best possible vet care, a safe place to stay with a foster caregiver, and the love they so very much deserve for as long as needed until that perfect forever home is found. Our organization is devoted to helping animals in need and works diligently to find them loving forever homes where they can happily live out the rest of their lives. With your help, we can – and will – continue to save many, many more. By choosing to make a donation to LGAR you will immediately become a vital part of the fight against animal suffering!

Become a Guardian Angel
We understand there are those of you who cannot take a dog into your home but want to help. Your recurring donation helps pay for a dog’s vetting, food, and other expenses until a permanent home is found. And by providing consistent, reliable resources to an animal in our care, your gift can allow us to rescue another animal who is silently suffering from abuse or neglect.
Look what your monthly gift can provide for orphaned animals in just one year:
Deworms and provides flea and tick prevention for one dog for an entire year.
Six dogs could be provided with a microchip and ID tag ensuring their safety should they ever get lost.
Gives 12 rescued dogs the necessary vaccinations to keep them healthy.
LGAR could spay and/or neuter 10 dogs helping to eliminate the problem of overbreeding.
Any amount you decide to donate could mean the difference between life and death for an animal in a shelter.
Thank you to all of our Guardian Angels
Knowing that guardian angels are working behind the scenes to care for you can give you confidence that you’re not alone when you face life’s challenges. It is because of you we have been able to save the lives of so many… and it is because of you, we will be able to save so many more.

Critical Care Fund / Sponsor an Animal
As an all-volunteer nonprofit, the resource constraints can be overwhelming; the lifeblood of our organization are our foster homes and other volunteers who work tirelessly to give each animal in their care the love and attention they have for so long forgone. Yet we struggle as there are so many more we would like to save but cannot because of the potential cost associated with their medical and/or behavioral treatment.
By becoming an LGAR sponsor, you will allow us to defray some of these costs giving us the opportunity to rescue more of the sick, abused and neglected animals—the most unwanted of the unwanted—that find themselves languishing within the shelter system. Many of these animals would not make it out of the shelters alive given the financial burdens their medical ailments would place on a would-be adopter. With your help, we can continue to fulfill our mission for the many abandoned animals who sit in wait for their new life to begin.
100% of all donations made here go straight to our special needs dogs as they fight for life.

Sadly in rescue, no matter how hard we try, we cannot save them all. Sometimes the universe has other plans. Every loss takes a piece of our hearts with them and reminds us how fragile life truly is. Bull was one such life. At only one year old, he was abandoned at a high kill…
Vote for LGAR
Looking Glass Animal Rescue is asking for the public to help them receive anywhere from $5000 to $20,000. The Healthy Paws Rescue Race 2019 is awarding such prizes to the dog rescue whose story is the most compelling. Looking Glass Animal Rescue’s dog in the race is Cleo. Here’s Cleo’s story:
Some of us have a harder start in life than others. Cleo had it very hard. As a four month old beagle puppy, Cleo was found severely beaten, blinded and shaking. tied to a pole outside a barber shop in the Bronx, NYC. When she was found one of her eyes were swollen shut, she had cuts on her head, back and shoulders, and several internal injuries. It was determined that Cleo had a fractured nasal cavity, fractured eye socket, severe cranial trauma and a fractured jaw. Cleo’s cheekbones were symmetrically broken, meaning that she had her head slammed in a door or was hit by something very heavy on both sides of her face. As if that wasn’t enough, she had a belly full of parasites that were starving her.
Cleo’s medical bills came to more than $7,000, but Looking Glass Animal Rescue came to the rescue. Cleo’s story touched a nerve with the public, news media and animal activists. Not only was Cleo’s abuser found and arrested, LGAR was able to cover her medical expenses with donations and is now prosecuting the case in court. Cleo received the care she needed and convalesced in a foster home in Manhattan.
Thankfully, she is now fully recovered and living with an amazing forever family. Help Looking Glass Animal Rescue do the same for others just like Cleo.
