Looking Glass Animal Rescue is an award-winning 501(c)(3) volunteer based nonprofit animal welfare organization headquartered in Ridgefield, CT. We are a virtual rescue and do not have a physical shelter facility. Our rescue animals are provided with the best possible vet care, a safe place to stay with a foster caregiver, and the love they so very much deserve for as long as needed until that perfect forever home is found. Our organization is devoted to helping animals in need and works diligently to find them loving forever homes where they can happily live out the rest of their lives. With your help, we can – and will – continue to save many, many more. By choosing to make a donation to LGAR you will immediately become a vital part of the fight against animal suffering!

Become a Guardian Angel
We understand there are those of you who cannot take a dog into your home but want to help. Your recurring donation helps pay for a pet’s vetting, food, and other expenses until a permanent home is found. And by providing consistent, reliable resources to an animal in our care, your gift can allow us to rescue another animal who is silently suffering from abuse or neglect.

Critical Care Fund / Sponsor an Animal
As an all-volunteer nonprofit, the resource constraints can be overwhelming; the lifeblood of our organization are our foster homes and other volunteers who work tirelessly to give each animal in their care the love and attention they have for so long forgone. Yet we struggle as there are so many more we would like to save but cannot because of the potential cost associated with their medical and/or behavioral treatment.
By becoming an LGAR sponsor, you will allow us to defray some of these costs giving us the opportunity to rescue more of the sick, abused and neglected animals—the most unwanted of the unwanted—that find themselves languishing within the shelter system. Many of these animals would not make it out of the shelters alive given the financial burdens their medical ailments would place on a would-be adopter. With your help, we can continue to fulfill our mission for the many abandoned animals who sit in wait for their new life to begin.
100% of all donations made here go straight to our special needs animals as they fight for life.

Sadly in rescue, no matter how hard we try, we cannot save them all. Sometimes the universe has other plans. Every loss takes a piece of our hearts with them and reminds us how fragile life truly is. Bull was one such life. At only one year old, he was abandoned at a high kill…
Current Fundraisers
Super Bowl Pool Fundraiser:
Who’s ready for Super Bowl LIV?!? If you are, then you are in luck because LGAR is holding it’s 2nd Annual Super Bowl Pool Fundraiser, giving you the opportunity to not only support our rescue efforts, but win some decent money! Half of the funds raised will go to LGAR, specifically supporting some hefty vet bills for a number of medically needy dogs currently in our care, like Loki (required leg amputation), Eli (requiring biopsy of the skin), and Heidi and her pups (two of whom have already passed from Parvo). The other half of the funds raised will go to 4 lucky winners. Feel like winning some money and saving animals all at the same time?
Here’s how it works:
We’ve got a Google Doc grid with the Chiefs on the horizontal axis and the 49ers on the vertical axis. Each axis has the numbers 0 through 9 in random order, which represents the last digit of the score for each team at the end of each quarter. There are 100 squares in total, each square costing $20. Check the squares available by viewing the Google Doc and make your selection by sending your $20 payment per square through either PayPal or Venmo (@LookingGlassAnimalRescue) and denoting the square(s) you want by column letter and row number (e.g., C5, F10, A8, etc.). There is no limit to the number of squares you can purchase.
Now the really important part…Winnings!!
First, Second & Third Quarter Payouts: $200 per quarter to the winner with the square matching the score by team
Final Quarter: $400
Please note that at times, 2 people may select the same box. In such cases, we will give it to whomever requested it first, reaching out to and giving the other individual the opportunity to pick another square (or you may opt to have us choose it at random for you).
Okay – LET’S FILL THIS GRID!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
Medical Care Fundraisers:
LGAR pulls many puppies and dogs from the Southern US and it is sadly very common for these animals to be heartworm positive upon testing, which we will always pay to treat because being heartworm positive isn’t a reason an animal should die. We also pull a large number of Mama dogs and their babies and we have heartbreakingly lost many puppies to Parvo. A Parvo outbreak in a litter can be very expensive, requiring needed round the clock care with an ER vet hospital, so the cost of this isn’t cheap to the least. And we always pull the “less than adoptable” animals, because frankly, they break our heart and we just can’t turn a blind eye toward an animal that is desperate for our help because without it, they will be euthanized. And while our hearts care so deeply for these innocent lives, our wallets are quite literally empty. Please consider donating to help us pay off these high vet bills so that we can continue saving the most vulnerable and innocent of lives.
